This molecule is insoluble, and can be detected with a spectrometer. The 1-(2-Furyl)pentan-1-one induces cellular lysis in bacteria, which can be used as an alternative to antibiotic treatments. This molecule has been shown to enhance the lysis of cells through chemometrics.
