It also reacts with alcohols to form ethers. This heteroaromatic compound has electron withdrawing groups that make it less stable than other heteroaromatic compounds and more reactive. 2-Fluoro-4-methoxybenzonitrile can be used in the Buchwald reaction to produce aryl chlorides from alkyl halides and aryl bromides.
