It has been shown to have bacteriostatic activity against a wide range of bacteria, including some strains of Staphylococcus and Streptococcus. 2-Fluorocinnamic acid binds to the enzyme that synthesizes amide and coumarin derivatives, thereby inhibiting its activity.
