2-Fluoronitrobenzene is a chemical compound that has two nitrogen atoms, an aromatic hydrocarbon group, and a fluorine atom. It is used as an antimicrobial agent due to its ability to inhibit bacterial growth by interfering with the synthesis of DNA in the bacterial cell. The antibacterial activity of 2-fluoronitrobenzene can be increased by the addition of diazonium salt or quinoline derivatives. This chemical compound has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and can be used for treating inflammation in animals. 2-Fluoronitrobenzene undergoes nucleophilic substitution reactions with hydroxide solution, giving rise to a nitro group.
