2-Fluoro-4-chlorotoluene is a molecule that consists of two fluorine atoms, four chlorine atoms, and one carbon atom. It is used in the production of synthetic rubber. The compound undergoes a nitrite formylation reaction with hydrofluoric acid and chlorine to yield 2-nitrobenzaldehyde. This reaction mechanism is proposed as a result of computational simulations. The frequency range for this compound was determined by using a monochromator in liquid chromatography. The parameters that were used to calculate the transition frequencies were obtained from vibrational spectroscopy.
