4-Fluoro-DL-phenylglycine is an analog of dopamine that is metabolized to fusogenic amino acids. It is also a substrate for aminotransferases and dehydrogenase enzymes. 4-Fluoro-DL-phenylglycine has been shown to increase reaction time in animals, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of dopamine. Furthermore, this compound exhibits antimicrobial properties against Gram-positive bacteria. The biological function of 4-fluoro-DL-phenylglycine includes the regulation of trifluoroacetic acid levels in the brain, which may be related to its effects on dopamine.
