Fmoc-D-Arg-OH is a synthetic amino acid that is synthesized by the oxidation of Fmoc-gly-OH with sodium periodate. It is used as a coupling partner in the synthesis of peptides and proteins. The oxidized product of Fmoc-D-Arg-OH reacts with the amine group of an amino acid to form an amide bond, which is then reduced to form an amide bond with another amino acid. This process can be repeated until all desired amino acids are coupled together, forming a peptide or protein. One example of this type of reaction is the synthesis of desmopressin acetate using Fmoc-D-Arg-OH as a coupling partner.
