Fmoc-D-glu-OH is a peptide synthesised from the amino acid lysine which has been shown to have tumour inhibiting properties. It is soluble in water and can be used in vitro as a plasminogen activator. Fmoc-D-glu-OH has been found to inhibit human ovarian cancer cell proliferation, with a potency of IC50 = 0.65 μM. This may be due to its ability to cause covalent binding of the peptide to cellular proteins, which inhibits uptake of the peptide by cells. Fmoc-D-glu-OH also inhibits the growth of human cancer cells in culture by inducing apoptosis.
