Descripción

Food red 3 is a red dye that is used in food and beverage products to give them a reddish color. The adsorption of Food Red 3 to the surface of water droplets is an example of Langmuir adsorption. This process is reversible, as the dye can be removed by heating. This process has been shown to be toxic to bacteria in wastewater treatment systems, where it can cause cell death at high concentrations. In addition, this compound has been shown to have long-term toxicity in rats and mice when ingested, which may be due to its ability to generate reactive oxygen species.
