This product is also useful in the synthesis of optical and synthetic products. 4-Formyl-2,2-dimethyl-3-oxazolidinecarboxylic Acid 1,1-dimethylethyl ester reacts with benzene under reflux conditions to form methyl benzoate and 2-(1,1'-dimethylethyl)benzaldehyde.
