Fmoc-Lys(Me,Boc)-OH is a synthetic amino acid that can be used as a fluorescent marker for proteins. It has been shown to interact with the effector proteins and developmental disorders such as dopamine, advances, endogenous, gene transcription. Fmoc-Lys(Me,Boc)-OH binds to acetylated lysine residues on histones and other proteins. This binding alters the DNA accessibility to transcription factors and microRNAs. Fmoc-Lys(Me,Boc)-OH can also be used as a probe in microarray experiments by binding to specific sequences of dna or rna. The fluorescence of this compound can also be used to detect toxins in cells.
