Fmoc-L-aspartic acid a-9-fluorenylmethyl ester is an optimized triphosphate that can be used as a phosphorylation reagent. It contains both alkynyl and functionalized spacers, which provide the opportunity to optimize its properties. This compound has been shown to catalyze the phosphorylation of imidazole with yields similar to those of ATP. Fmoc-L-aspartic acid a-9-fluorenylmethyl ester also has ribonucleic functionalities, which make it suitable for use in ribonucleic acids (RNA) synthesis. The ribonucleoside base and carboxylate functionalities allow for modification of nucleosides, which are important in DNA or RNA synthesis.
