Fmoc-2-fluoro-D-phenylalanine is a ligand that blocks angiopoietin and inhibits angiogenesis. It also inhibits the signal transduction pathways of the receptor tyrosine kinase, which can lead to tumor regression. Fmoc-2-fluoro-D-phenylalanine is used in the screening of potential anticancer drugs that target angiogenesis. This drug has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in culture by blocking the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and other proangiogenic factors.
