Fmoc-4-amino-L-phenylalanine is a molecule with the amino acid, aminophenylalanine, that is used in devices to detect epithelial cells. It has been functionalized with a fluoro group and can be used as a fluorescent probe for the detection of epithelial cells. Fmoc-4-amino-L-phenylalanine can also be used to diagnose tumors and tumor cells by detecting their presence in urine samples. This peptide has been shown to have anti-tumor properties when it interacts with the tumor cell membrane, which may be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis and induce apoptosis.
