N-alpha-Fmoc-Nepsilon-1-(4,4-dimethyl-2,6-dioxocyclohex-1-ylidene)-3-methylbutyl-L-lysine is a synthetic peptide that is used in the study of prostate cancer. It binds to tumor cells and may be used as a radiotracer for imaging. Nalpha Fmoc Nepsilon 1 (4,4 dimethyl 2,6 dioxocyclohexylidene) 3 methylbutyl L Lysine has been shown to bind to an antigen on prostate cancer cells and stimulate their uptake by macrophages in vitro. This synthetic peptide also inhibits cell proliferation and induces apoptosis in prostate cancer cells. Clinical data suggests that this compound is safe for use in humans. The synthesis of this compound requires the formation of a disulfide bond between the two cysteine residues.
