Forsythoside B is a cyclic peptide that has anti-inflammatory properties. It is an experimental drug that has been shown to inhibit the polymerase chain reaction, which may be of therapeutic use in treating diseases such as hepatitis and kidney fibrosis. Forsythoside B also inhibits the production of inflammatory mediators by lipopolysaccharides (LPS) and decreases the severity of LPS-induced inflammation in hl-60 cells. Forsythoside B has limited cytotoxicity to normal cells at concentrations up to 500 µM and does not inhibit protein synthesis or cause cell death in vitro.
