It has been shown to inhibit the growth of human breast cancer cells and to induce apoptosis. 2-Fluoro-4-methoxybenzylamine hydrochloride binds to the polymerase, which blocks synthesis of DNA or RNA. The binding site is located near the active site of the enzyme. This drug also has an insulin-like effect by stimulating IGF-I production and increasing protein synthesis in somatotrophic cells.
