3-Fluorothiophene is a synthetic molecule that belongs to the group of carbamates. It has various biological activities such as ferroelectricity, enzyme activity and the formation of nanowires. 3-Fluorothiophene is used for the synthesis of monomers in biochemistry and the development of new drugs. The molecule has been shown to be a substrate for enzymes such as carboxypeptidase and esterases, which are involved in protein hydrolysis. 3-Fluorothiophene also binds to chloride ions through hydrogen bonding and forms x-ray crystal structures with a halogen atom at one end.
