2'-Fluoroacetanilide is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of compounds called anilides. It is a white, crystalline solid and has been used as an inhibitor in the laboratory for studying enzyme activity. 2'-Fluoroacetanilide is soluble in carbon disulphide and hydrochloric acid and reacts with sodium carbonate to give sodium 2'-fluoroacetanilide-carbonate. The compound can be used as a model system to study the effects of inhibitors on enzymes such as creatinine hydroxylase and the drug-metabolizing enzyme cytochrome P450 2C19 (CYP2C19).
2'-Fluoroacetanilide inhibits acetylation by binding to the active site of acetyl coenzyme A carboxylase (ACC), which blocks access by acetyl-CoA. This binding also prevents phosphorylation of ACC, which is required for its activation
