1-Fluoroanthraquinone is a chromophore that contains nitrogen atoms and amines. The nitrogen atoms are electron deficient and the amine groups are nucleophilic. 1-Fluoroanthraquinone can act as either a bifunctional or macrocyclic ligand, depending on the reaction conditions. It can react with lithium diisopropylamide in acetonitrile to form a complex that has been used for electrochemical methods. 1-Fluoroanthraquinone has been shown to react with halopyridines, forming tetrahydrofuran derivatives that have protonation or electron deficiency. The fluorine atom in this molecule makes it reactive at high temperatures.
