Fluoroboronophenylalanine is a cancer drug that is used to treat primary brain tumors. It is an analog of the amino acid phenylalanine and has been shown to be effective in animal experiments. Fluoroboronophenylalanine has been shown to have low uptake by normal cells, which makes it suitable for use in radiation therapy. This drug also has a high affinity for malignant tumors, which makes it suitable as a diagnostic agent. Fluoroboronophenylalanine is administered intravenously and can be detected in the blood up to 12 hours after administration.
