This drug has been shown to have antidepressant effects in mice, with affinities for 5-HT1A receptors that are higher than those for other receptors. 6-Fluoro-1-benzothiophene is one of the most potent SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) antagonists that have been developed, with high affinities for 5-HT1A receptors.
