6-Fluoro-8-methoxyquinoline is a chemical compound that has the molecular formula CHNO. It is a nucleophile and an anion. It has a benzene ring with two hydroxide groups and two methoxide groups. 6-Fluoro-8-methoxyquinoline can react with sodium methoxide to form sodium (2,4,6) hexamethylbenzene. This reaction is regioselective and the product of this reaction will have fluorine atoms on the para position of the benzene ring. The electronic structures of 6-fluoro-8-methoxyquinoline are also interesting because it contains a fluorine atom that can be either ortho or para to the methyl group on the benzene ring.
