3-Fluoro-alpha-fluoromethyltyrosine is a fluorinated tyrosine analog that is used in the study of brain function. It is taken up by the brain and concentrated in specific areas, such as the striatum. 3-Fluoro-alpha-fluoromethyltyrosine has been shown to increase dopamine levels in the rat striatum, which may be due to its inhibition of catecholamine hydroxylase and decarboxylase activities.
