6-Fluoro-1H-indole-3-carboxylic acid is an inhibitor of glycogen synthase. It has been shown to inhibit neuronal death and injury in the cerebral ischemic model. 6-Fluoro-1H-indole-3-carboxylic acid has also been found to have neuroprotective effects, which may be due to its inhibition of glycogen synthase activity. This agent is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme and has been shown to protect against neuronal death in a cerebral ischemia model. In addition, this agent has been found to reduce infarct volume following transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) in rats.
