5-Fluoro-1-methyl-4(1H)-pyrimidinone is a deuterium analogue of pyrimidine. It is a catalysis reagent that can be used as an intermediate in organic synthesis. 5-Fluoro-1-methyl-4(1H)-pyrimidinone is also a base catalyst, which can be used to catalyze the conversion of esters and amides into alcohols and amines. This compound has an acidic proton at the position adjacent to the fluorine atom, which can be protonated by a hydroxide ion or other base to form its corresponding tautomeric form, giving it two possible tautomers.
