Fluoroacetic acid 2-fluoroethyl ester is a biologically active compound that is used in pest control. It is a fluorinated acetic acid derivative that has been shown to have effects on the skeleton and polyvinyl acetate polymerization. Fluoroacetic acid 2-fluoroethyl ester inhibits the enzymatic reaction of the enzyme acetaldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) by binding to the active site of the enzyme, thereby preventing it from catalyzing the oxidation of acetaldehyde to acetic acid. The biological properties of fluoroacetic acid 2-fluoroethyl ester are due to its inhibitory effect on ALDH, which leads to an accumulation of acetaldehyde and aldehydes in cells.
