5-Fluoro-(2'-Nitrofuryl)-2-Benzimidazole is a potent antifungal agent that belongs to the group of nitroimidazoles. It has been shown to be active against Cryptococcus neoformans, which is an opportunistic fungal pathogen that causes cryptococcosis in immunocompromised individuals. 5-Fluoro-(2'-Nitrofuryl)-2-Benzimidazole inhibits the activity of lipoprotein lipase, a key enzyme in lipid metabolism. This drug also inhibits cellular growth by inhibiting the synthesis of DNA and RNA and preventing virus replication. 5-Fluoro-(2'-Nitrofuryl)-2-Benzimidazole has also been shown to inhibit cholesterol esterase, an enzyme involved in lipid metabolism. The drug has been shown to be active against influenza virus and HIV type 1 strains as well as other viruses such as herpes
