It is active against a wide range of pathogenic fungi, including Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger. 4-Fluorophenylhydrazono malononitrile has been shown to be especially effective against staphylococcus, subtilis, and cerevisiae. This compound also inhibits the growth of aerogenes, gram-negative bacteria, and aureus. 4-Fluorophenylhydrazono malononitrile is used to inhibit the growth of these bacteria by interfering with the synthesis of proteins that are needed for cell division.
