Descripción

Fluoxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor that inhibits the activity of tyrosine hydroxylase, an enzyme that converts the amino acid tyrosine to the neurotransmitter dopamine. It has been shown to have bactericidal activity against some bacterial strains and is active in vivo. Fluoxetine has also been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro and induce apoptosis in human liver cells. This drug has shown genotoxic effects in rats and hamsters, as well as cytotoxic effects on CD-1 mice.
