3-Fluoro-6,7,8,9-tetrahydro-5H-benzo[7]annulen-5-one is a chemoselective inhibitor of human cancer cells with apoptotic and stereoselective activity. 3-Fluoro-6,7,8,9-tetrahydro-5H-benzo[7]annulen-5-one induces cell death by binding to the polyenes in the cell membrane and inhibiting the synthesis of proteins that are necessary for maintaining the structural integrity of the cell. The compound has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in vivo. 3 -fluoro 6,7,8,9 tetrahydro 5H benzo[7]annulen 5 one has been shown to be effective against a variety of cancers including breast cancer and prostate cancer. The mechanism of action is similar to that of other anti tumor agents such as polyenes or fluorine
