N-(2-Fluoroethyl)-2-(2-nitro-1H-imidazol-1-yl)acetamide (NFEI) is a radiopharmaceutical that is used to detect hypoxic tumor tissue in patients with cancer. It has been shown to be effective at inhibiting the growth of cancer cells and can identify the sites of cancerous cells in vivo. NFEI has high lipophilicity and can be taken up by tumor tissue more easily than healthy tissue, making it an excellent candidate for use in positron emission tomography imaging. This compound is being evaluated as a potential new therapy for cancer treatment.
