(2R,4S)-6-Fluoro-2-Methylspiro[Chroman-4,5'-Imidazolidine]-2',4'-Dione is a synthetic compound that has been shown to be beneficial for the treatment of metabolic disorders in diabetic patients. The drug inhibits the production of glucose from noncarbohydrate sources and has an antioxidant effect. It also inhibits the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and prevents oxidative damage to lipids and proteins. This compound also has a biocompatible polymer with a high molecular weight that can be used in the synthesis of sodium-dependent glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors. Clinical studies have demonstrated that this drug may have benefits in treating diabetic neuropathy, including symptoms such as pain, numbness, tingling, or burning sensations.
