GAL-021 is an orally active compound that is being developed for the treatment of inflammatory diseases. GAL-021 is a small molecule that binds to the α subunit of acetylcholine esterase, which blocks the activity of this enzyme and reduces inflammation. The drug also increased the numbers of regulatory T cells in mice with experimental asthma.
