Descripción

Glycocholic acid is a bile acid that is synthesized from cholesterol in the liver. It is a major component of bile and plays an important role in digestion and absorption. Glycocholic acid has been shown to have a toxic effect on bowel disease, including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, as well as various other diseases such as diabetes mellitus type 1 and chronic cough. This compound can also be used to treat infectious diseases such as primary sclerosing cholangitis, which is characterized by inflammation of the bile ducts within the liver. Glycocholic acid has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and may help to decrease the symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease.
