Descripción:Glaziovine is a sesquiterpene lactone that is found in Chinese medicinal herbs. This molecule has been shown to have anxiolytic properties and to be a blood pressure-lowering agent. Glaziovine binds to the benzodiazepine site on the GABA receptor. It exhibits competitive antagonism with respect to GABA, which leads to increased neuronal activity in the central nervous system. The pharmacological profile of glaziovine has been explored using tetrazolium dye and found that it had no effect on mice at doses up to 20 mg/kg, but did show an increase in locomotor activity at higher doses. Glaziovine is structurally related to other molecules such as borohydride reduction and metal hydroxides.
