• Descripción: Guvacine hydrochloride is a non-metabolized prodrug that binds to the GABA receptor, which is a ligand-gated ion channel. It has been shown to be low potency and selective for the gamma-aminobutyric acid type A receptor. Guvacine hydrochloride has been shown to have agonistic effects on 3t3-l1 preadipocytes in vitro and in vivo. This drug may have potential as an anti-obesity agent due to its ability to inhibit lipolysis and fat cell differentiation. Guvacine hydrochloride also has been shown to cause genotoxic effects in vitro, which may be due to its inhibition of DNA repair mechanisms.
