Descripción

Germacrone is a water-soluble natural compound found in the essential oil of Curcuma aromatica. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anticancer properties. Germacrone has been shown to scavenge anion radicals and inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells. In addition, germacrone has been found to have ATP-binding cassette transporter activity and is capable of binding to pro-apoptotic proteins. This compound also inhibits the synthesis of DNA, RNA, and protein. Germacrone may be a potential anticancer agent due to its ability to inhibit energy metabolism in cells, which may lead to cell death by apoptosis or necrosis.
