The mode of action of Gaultherin involves its enzymatic hydrolysis into methyl salicylate and glucose. Methyl salicylate is a well-known analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent, acting through the inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX), subsequently reducing the synthesis of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins.
