Descripción:Gypsogenic acid is a triterpenoid saponin that is found in the leaves of the plant Gypsophila paniculata. It has been shown to have hemolytic activity and protein synthesis inhibition. This compound is membrane permeable, which makes it an effective antibacterial agent. Gypsogenic acid also has anticancer properties, as it inhibits tumor growth and induces apoptosis in cancer cells. The chemical structure of gypsogenic acid consists of a sugar backbone with a fatty acid tail at one end. The glycosidic bond between the sugar and the fatty acid renders this compound soluble in water, which accounts for its hemolytic activity.
