Ginkgetin is an organic compound that is found in the leaves of the Ginkgo biloba tree. It has been shown to have a protective effect against oxidative injury and myocardial infarct. Ginkgetin has also been shown to reduce reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and increase mitochondrial membrane potential, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the Toll-Like Receptor 4 (TLR4). Ginkgetin also has a potent antibacterial activity, which is likely due to its ability to inhibit bacterial dna gyrase and topoisomerase IV.
