Descripción:3-Hydroxy-2-methylpyridine is an aminopyridine that has been shown to have a low bioavailability. It is metabolized in the liver, with the metabolites excreted in urine. 3-Hydroxy-2-methylpyridine also acts as a prodrug for other drugs, such as caffeine, 3-hydroxytyrosol, and 3,4-dimethoxyphenylethylamine. It is primarily used as a model system for studying the metabolism of drugs. The symptoms of poisoning by this compound are not well documented but may include fatigue, headache, nausea and vomiting. Women are at higher risk of developing these side effects than men.
