- Hexadecanoic Acid, Hydrazide
Hexadecanoyl hydrazide (HDA) is a chemical compound that is composed of 16 carbon atoms, 17 hydrogen atoms, and 3 nitrogen atoms. It has a molecular weight of 216.24 g/mol. HDA is used in the synthesis of organic acids, such as caproic acid, formyl group, and diethyl succinate. It has been shown to have antioxidant properties due to its ability to inhibit lipid peroxidation through its free-radical scavenging abilities. In addition, HDA can be used as an oxygen transport agent because it is able to increase the amount of oxygen dissolved in water. This chemical also has viscosity-increasing properties and can be used in the encapsulation of test samples.
