6-Hydrazinophenanthridine is a structural reagent that belongs to the class of phenanthridines. It is a reagent used in the detection of chloride, formic acid, phthaloyl groups, and fluorimetric reactions. This compound has been shown to be efficient for use as a ligand in fluorescence reactions. 6-Hydrazinophenanthridine binds to cyclohexane, forming an adduct that can be identified by its fluorescence. 6-Hydrazinophenanthridine also reacts with diethyloxalate to form the chelate ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA).
