4-Hydroxy-4-methylcyclohexanone is a flavonoid that has been demonstrated to have stereoselective antioxidant properties. It is a diammonium salt that can be used to inhibit the oxidation of cellular fatty acids. 4-Hydroxy-4-methylcyclohexanone inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species by the activation of cytochrome P450, which is a critical enzyme in metabolic reactions. 4-Hydroxy-4-methylcyclohexanone has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the growth of cancer cells and also helps prevent DNA damage caused by free radicals.
