3-Hydroxypyrazine-2-carboxylic acid is a fluorinated derivative of pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid, which is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) to nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP). This compound has been synthesized by modifying the lanthanide metal center with fluorine. The modifications have been shown to reduce the anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility. 3HPCA has also been shown to be a substrate for bacterial species and can be used as a ligand in magnetic resonance experiments.
