Descripción:4-Hydroxy-2,6-dimethylbenzoicacid is a metabolite of the herbicide 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid and has been shown to have pharmacokinetic properties and a platelet profile similar to that of acetylsalicylic acid. The physicochemical properties of 4-hydroxy-2,6-dimethylbenzoic acid are similar to those of salicylic acid. It is conjunctival in nature and may be used for the treatment of inflammation caused by allergies or bacterial infections. This chemical also has d2 receptor binding activity which may be due to its coordination with zinc ions. Uptake mechanisms for this compound include passive diffusion and ion channel transport.
