4-Hydroxypyrimidine is a chemical compound with the molecular formula CHN. It is a yellow solid that is soluble in water and has an intense fluorescence. 4-Hydroxypyrimidine has been shown to have antihypertensive activity, as well as inhibitory properties against inflammation, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. 4-Hydroxypyrimidine binds to both gold and selenium colloids, which can be used for X-ray diffraction analysis of these materials. It also forms tautomers and nitrogen atoms when in solution. 4-Hydroxypyrimidine has been studied extensively using X-ray crystallography and fluorescence spectrometry, as well as biological studies on rats.
