It also inhibits the enzymatic activity of pyrazine 2 carboxylic acid, which is necessary for cell wall biosynthesis. 1-Hydroxy-3-cyclohexene has been shown to have no adverse effects on human cells at concentrations up to 100 µM, making it a potential candidate for use as an antifungal agent in humans.
