Descripción:5-Hydroxythiabendazole is a reactive benzimidazole compound. It is used as a reagent in analytical methods to detect the presence of 5-hydroxythiabendazole and fenbendazole sulfone in human serum and other biological samples. 5-Hydroxythiabendazole can be used to measure enzyme activity by adding it to a substrate, and measuring the light emitted by the substrate's reaction with the drug. It has been shown that 5-hydroxythiabendazole can inhibit tubule cell growth in a rat model of chronic renal failure and may have anthelmintic properties. The effectiveness of this drug has been studied using monoclonal antibodies against 5-hydroxythiabendazole, which are fluorescently labeled with fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) or phycoerythrin (PE).
